Meet the Team

Derek is a lifelong collector, storyteller, and toy hunter who never really left the toy aisle. Growing up on a steady diet of Saturday morning cartoons, action figures, and VHS tapes, he built The Retro Lair as a place to share that same sense of wonder (and weirdness) with fellow fans.

From digging through flea markets to spotlighting forgotten toy lines, Derek brings humor, nostalgia, and a collector’s eye to every episode. Whether he’s unboxing a childhood favorite, introducing viewers to oddball treasures, or celebrating the classics, Derek’s mission is simple: keep the magic of the 80s and 90s alive for fans old and new.

What’s up everyone—stoked to be here. I am a big fans of all the stuff that made us growing up in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s awesome. GI Joe (a real American hero), TMNT, all the classic toy lines, and the kind of vintage gear that still hits you with nostalgia the second you see it.

I am into collecting, swapping stories, and just reliving the good stuff from back in the day. If it’s got that old-school vibe—cartoons, action figures, or vintage apparel—I am all about it. Can’t wait to connect with some like-minded folks and keep the memories alive.
