Brian Johnson's fascination with storytelling began with a childhood encounter with mythology and Star Wars, sparking a lifelong passion for science fiction, fantasy, and horror. While pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, he expanded his creative horizons through courses in mythology, literature, and creative writing, developing a particular affinity for Norse myths and sagas.
As a member of the Kansas Writers Association, Johnson has published poetry and short stories in numerous anthologies and online magazines. His debut novel, "Hell to Pay," was released by Hellfire Publishing in 2011. After completing both bachelor's and master's degrees in education and working with the National Writing Project, Johnson returned to fiction with renewed focus. His novel "The Dark Cry of Aristid" is available on Amazon, and his latest work, "Middle-Aged Man in a Trashcan," was published by Wild Rose Press in 2025.
Johnson is a fellow with both Artist INC and Project Atmosphere. Beyond his literary pursuits, he combines his scientific background with artistic vision as a storm chaser and photographer in the Midwest. His work is featured on his website, Ruminationofthunder.com, and his photographs have been utilized by NASA, the National Weather Service, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He also co-hosts "Tikiman and the Viking," a podcast exploring creativity and the writing process.
