The Creature Designer, Russ Adams, is a multidisciplinary indie creator specializing in creature fabrication, practical effects, production, and publishing. With a background in Hollywood FX and a passion for teaching, he shares professional techniques through how-to books, blog posts, and behind-the-scenes content—empowering fellow indie makers through what he calls The Indie Plan. Whether sculpting, molding, or building wearable monsters, The Creature Designer champions creativity, craftsmanship, and doing the most with what you have.

Russ Adams

Russ Adams is a special effects artist and creature designer, turned podcaster. As a 25 year veteran of the film industry, he has worked on many films including 50 First Dates, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, SLC Punk: Punk is Dead, and #Screamers...to name a few.
He is best known for his role on a Syfy Channel TV show called, Jim Henson's Creature Shop Challenge.
Russ is also the author of 6 books including a tell all about reality TV titled, Surviving Reality: This Is Not That Show. He has also written and series of special effects how-to books including Latex Mask Making and Making Action Figures.
